Hi, I’m jennifer maldonado thind.

I have always felt that teaching and helping others comes naturally to me. I have been an astute athlete my entire life, focusing on track and gymnastics during my youth. I later used my athletic drive to coach gymnastics while in college. I’ve had a successful career in Commercial Real Estate but still felt the need to do more. I wanted to return to my roots.

In 2010 I went back to school for a year-long extensive training program for my Pilates certification through Equinox. Shortly after my training, I had 2 children and decided it was time for me to step away from Commercial Real Estate altogether. With my Pilates training in hand, I was able to overcome the injuries I sustained delivering two children, and regain the strength I needed to fully care for them.

In 2019 I completed an additional Pilates certification program through Equinox. I was hired by them and quickly advanced in my teachings as a Pilates instructor. Because of my previous experience with sports, overcoming injuries, and caring for family members, I was able to accumulate a wide rage of clientele and I am able to relate to and help each and every one of them.

When the Covid-19 shutdown was lifted, I opened up my own Pilates Studio in Woodland Hills and taught there for several years. We currently live in Thousand Oaks, where I continue to teach as a private Pilates instructor in my home studio and through virtual sessions. I also teach in Woodland Hills several days a week to serve my clients that live in the valley.

my approach to overcoming injuries

Injuries, limited movement, and increased range of motion

If you are overcoming an injury I can help. I work with many clients from postpartum moms and seniors to athletes who are rehabilitating injuries and becoming stronger than they previously were through Pilates.

Car accidents are relentless on the body. After experiencing one in my early 20s, I was no longer able to achieve my previous workouts. Pilates became a form of physical therapy to work through injuries, gain strength and meet my health and wellness goals. Pilates saved me from living a life of chronic pain and limited movement. This motivated me to become a certified Pilates Instructor to help others do the same.

During my certification process in 2010, I had another car accident and later on had my daughter. There is not a lot of chatter on mothers experiencing childbirth injuries. In my experience, it was after I had the epidural and tore my hip labrum. I was not able to walk for weeks and had to undergo months of prolotherapy to avoid surgery during the first few months after delivery. I used Pilates again to, rehabilitate my body from the neck, back, and hip injuries and regained the core and whole-body strength to sustain another pregnancy and keep up with two young children.

During the Pandemic, I did a lot of virtual classes which meant a lot of demonstrations, etc. I used Pilates as a way to cope with what was going on in my current environment, manage stress, and stay in shape. During that time I had an unexplained issue with my shoulder and hip. It took 8 months of Prolotherapy and Pilates to rehabilitate those areas while keeping the rest of my body strong as it was overcompensating for my injuries. We have our moments where we may not always be our strongest but it is so important to have Pilates as a tool to keep you on the right track.
