Injuries, limited movement, and increased range of motion
If you are overcoming an injury I can help. I work with many clients from postpartum moms and seniors to athletes who are rehabilitating injuries and becoming stronger than they previously were through Pilates.
Car accidents are relentless on the body. After experiencing one in my early 20s, I was no longer able to achieve my previous workouts. Pilates became a form of physical therapy to work through injuries, gain strength and meet my health and wellness goals. Pilates saved me from living a life of chronic pain and limited movement. This motivated me to become a certified Pilates Instructor to help others do the same.
During my certification process in 2010, I had another car accident and later on had my daughter. There is not a lot of chatter on mothers experiencing childbirth injuries. In my experience, it was after I had the epidural and tore my hip labrum. I was not able to walk for weeks and had to undergo months of prolotherapy to avoid surgery during the first few months after delivery. I used Pilates again to, rehabilitate my body from the neck, back, and hip injuries and regained the core and whole-body strength to sustain another pregnancy and keep up with two young children.
During the Pandemic, I did a lot of virtual classes which meant a lot of demonstrations, etc. I used Pilates as a way to cope with what was going on in my current environment, manage stress, and stay in shape. During that time I had an unexplained issue with my shoulder and hip. It took 8 months of Prolotherapy and Pilates to rehabilitate those areas while keeping the rest of my body strong as it was overcompensating for my injuries. We have our moments where we may not always be our strongest but it is so important to have Pilates as a tool to keep you on the right track.
